LADIES LUNCH WAS GREAT FUN!

What beautiful weather was on tap for a trip to Castroville for our monthly Ladies’ Lunch Bunch! Even the bluebonnets cooperated! The ladies ate at Julianna’s at the golf course. The food was artfully presented, plentiful & tasteful. The view from the restaurant is lovely as it overlooks wide expanses of green. After a long winter, it was a grand reprieve. This restaurant is a go-to for anyone looking for a relaxing luncheon. I am sure the 20+ ladies who carpooled to this event had an enjoyable afternoon.

FLEA MARKET WAS GREAT SUCCESS!

On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Lone Star Corral welcomed members of the local communities for our annual Flea Market.  The response was so great, that Larry Brogan, our gate guard, had to open the Flea Market 10 minutes early, due to the long line of cars waiting on the street.  Sales began briskly, with porch items going quickly.  Our members tables inside were equally busy.  Everyone enjoyed meeting and greeting many persons who have visited our flea market before.  Pat and John Swatloski, Patsy Moberly and Larry Smith enjoyed meeting guests. The kitchen volunteers were equally busy, serving both breakfast and lunch to workers and guests alike.  The bake sale table, always popular, did not disappoint this year.  Sandra Million sports a jaunty hat as she waits for her food at the café.  Enjoying some fun at the Craft Corner, Bill Thoday, Kay Markle, and Cyrissa Grimes handled the sale of items from all our clever crafters!

Kathy Trice enjoys a laugh.

The clean up crew, just too many to be mentioned, did an amazing job at restoring the Clubhouse to its normal operation.  The Flea Market ended at 1 PM and before 2 PM, everyone was finished up!  AWESOME TEAMWORK EVERYONE!   Thanks to our overall coordinator, Larry Smith and his team; outside sales, Edmund Strickler and his team; Bake Sale Table, Juanita Whitlock and her team; the Treasure Table Sales, Sandi Parker and her team; and the Kitchen sale coordinators, Dale and Cheryl Curtis and their team!  See you next year!

FLEA MARKET THANKS

We would like to thank and congratulate Larry Smith and all his Flea Market committee members and workers, as well as all those who worked so hard in the kitchen, the Country Craft Corner, the porch sales crew, the Bake Sale crew, the Bargain Table workers, set up and take down workers, and everyone else who played a part, no matter how small, in making this a very successful Flea Market. I haven’t seen any final numbers, but from what we saw, it looks like it was a profitable one.

We would also like to add that this Co-Op has the most talented bakers on the PLANET!!! Y’all are awesome and your baked goods are out of this world! THANK YOU!!…as I sit here at my computer munching on a cookie!

Results of the Golf Cart Races

Saturday, February 23 saw the annual 2019 LSC Golf Cart Races.

On a perfect clear afternoon, 12 teams competed on a course fraught with perils – from traffic cones around which the blindfolded drivers, directed by their fearless cohorts, to a graded road, to boulders and even a wheelchair-bound onlooker (who narrowly escaped with his life).

The race was attended by a couple dozen rubberneckers hoping for some blood and gore, who enthusiastically cheered (and laughed) at the antics of the sometimes accurate, sometimes hopelessly befuddled drivers. Winners with a fastest time (adjusted for running over a cone) were Jim and Randi Rigsby, with a time of 1 minute thirteen seconds. Prizes were also awarded for Slowest Time, Most Entertaining and Safest.

A big thank you to park guest John Maxfield for handling the timepiece, and to Bob Wheaton and Rose Schafer for tracking and scoring the times (and disasters)
