It is time to be planning for July’s Ladies’ Lunch Bunch get-together. Reservations have been made for Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Railhead Café in Lytle. A menu can be found at www.zmenu.com/railhead-cafe-lytle. I am expecting receipt of a menu in the next few days which I will put on the sign-up sheet which is already in the Clubhouse. This small establishment adds a charge to the bill if you use debit or credit cards. There is limited parking in front of the shopping strip in which the restaurant is located but more parking is located behind the buildings. Directions can be found on the internet.

On June 12, 2019, ten ladies traveled to Castroville for lunch at the Castroville Café. We were given a room to ourselves and since it was a small group we were able to comfortably visit with each other. We were pleased to welcome two guests. Food was well presented and tasty. Watch for information regarding July’s Ladies’ Lunch Bunch destination.

You’re missing all the fun!  Mark your calendars for each Tuesday, throughout the year, at 1:00.  You haven’t played Mexican Train with the rules of this park – anywhere, anytime.  No cutthroat allowed.  Only rule: smile and enjoy and have a good time.  We go into the library when it is too hot to be in the Clubhouse.  Now’s the time.  Don’t miss out.  We will be watching for you.

As Chairperson of the Country Craft Store, I have been asked by three different members recently if there is anyone in the park who makes those little crocheted abrasive kitchen scrubbies. If you can or would make some, and you would like to sell them in the Craft Store, please do so. Folks are asking for them. I noticed the other day that the directions for them are posted on the inside of one of the doors in the Country Craft Store.

If you have never consigned your handmade items in the Country Craft Store and would like some assistance in doing so, please contact me. I’ll be glad to help.

Remember

The last weekend in May, for many,  has become all about kicking off summer, barbeques, picnics, the end of the school year for many and throwing off the mantle of winter.  But before jumping into all that this weekend, take a moment and reflect on the true meaning of the Memorial Day holiday in the United States.

It is to reflect and remember, that in defense of this country and the freedoms we enjoy, many have made the ultimate sacrifice for us, their lives.  Memorial Day is not the day to thank a veteran, although that is always appropriate.  Veterans Day in November is to remember and applaud all veterans.  This Memorial Day is to remember those who have died in defense of this country.  Remember they were sons and daughters, husbands, wives and friends.  They were brothers and sisters, they were parents and even grandchildren and grandparents.  They answered a higher calling for us and the freedom we enjoy.

All gave some.  Some gave all.  Remember it.  Say it.  Honor it.

We will be showing “Phantom of the Opera” on Saturday, May 25th at 6:30 pm.

The color chart for the new LSC T-Shirts is now in the Country Craft Store.  Check out all the great colors and get your order in for your LSC T-Shirts while the color & size selections are numerous.  There’s also a few cute tote bags too!

A special request: the Menu Notebook needs to be updated. As you visit various restaurants, please ask for a menu to take home with you. If you will put it inside the notebook, I will put the new menu in place. Of course, if you find a restaurant that you feel would be a good option for future Ladies’ Lunch Bunch outings, do not hesitate to let me know and again, if you can bring a menu it would be so helpful. Despite a dismal and very wet morning, 18 ladies carpooled to Camp Verde for lunch on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Unfortunately the restaurant divided our group to sit at two tables too far apart to communicate. Nonetheless, the service was good and the food was  well presented. The sun appeared and the afternoon turned very pleasant.

NEXT MONTH? I have reservations for Wednesday, June 12 at the Castroville Café. Our reservation is for the usual 1:00 pm so we will meet at the Clubhouse at 12:15 pm.
