A celebration in honor of our veterans was held on November 11 at 10 am.  About 45 people gathered, both members and guests, outside the north door of the Clubhouse. The event was planned and coordinated by Randi Rigsby, Vice President of the Bluebonnet Auxiliary.  After a welcome and brief history of Veterans Day by Samme Buck, President of the Bluebonnet Auxiliary, Ron Erkert, Lot 7, led the attendees in singing the Star Spangled Banner.  A reading titled “What Is A Vet” was given by Bob Payne, Lot 89.

Our veterans were recognized by individual service branches.  Gift cards were given in three special categories:  the oldest veteran in attendance at the ceremony today was Gene Hunter, Lot 53, at 90;  the longest serving veteran in attendance was R.D. Totten, Lot 34, with 23 years in the military;  our youngest veteran at the ceremony was a guest, Walter Confer (on Lot 37), at 64.  THANK YOU to all our veterans for your service.

A special Thank You to our Audio-Visual Co-chairs, Bob Chapin and Jim Mossman;  Cheryl Curtis for our invocation;  the Kitchen Committee for their assistance with the beverage service (Brenda & Minta);  Marlene Moir for both the decorations and cake service;  Richard Buck for set up and break down.  Thank you to Ron Erkert for his help with the sound system and for sharing his wonderful singing talent with us yet again.
